I have recently begun using S/Mime certificates for sender verification and encryption. I currently whitelist all incoming email that has a valid and verifiable s/mime certificate attached. The nicest thing about this is that once we have exchanged certificates, simply by each receiving an email from the other with an attached certificate, we can then encrypt all subsequent emails to ensure a better level of privacy in our communications.

• CodeFlux – My software consultancy. This started out many years ago, before I returned to academia, as Glenisla Services providing computing facilities in rural Scotland.
• Heavy Wizardry – A domain that I registered but haven’t yet started using. I plan to make it a repository of my GPL licensed code, related Creative Commons licensed materials, and as a hosting domain for any projects that I start and want to have an online presences for. NB. I don’t think that my coding is yet in the realms of the wizards so I consider the naming of this site to be more aspirational than descriptive.
• Research Wiki/Open Notebook – Notes related to my teaching & research activities, as well as any topics that just pique my interest. Basically a place to find out what I am working on or interested in, and give me some feedback if you feel the need to.
